Things to do in Nashville, TN:
It’s not just for country fans! Nashville, TN has a huge variety of fun activities to do – day and night.
1) Visit Opryland Hotel: Visit during the day and enjoy beautiful walks around the gardens and waterfalls, or swing by in the evening to indulge in dinner and cocktails at one of the many restaurants. Findley’s Irish Pub is a fun social bar that has music most evenings, but you should be sure to check out the variety of upscale restaurants in the Cascadia section of the hotel. Dancing fountains and sky-high waterfalls create a relaxing and romantic atmosphere sure to enhance any meal. (If you want to save the $20, park at Opry Mills and walk the short distance to the hotel!)
2) Live on the Green: This weekly outdoor summer concert series, held in Public Square Park, brings great live music acts to downtown Nashville – and best of all, it’s FREE! Enjoy great craft beer and dinner from the variety of food trucks that park along the edge of the event. Bring a blanket and save your spot in the lawn early, because it does tend to get crowded.
3) Downtown Nashville: Walk along Broadway and the side streets for a variety of bars with live music playing all day and night. Nashville is known for Country Music, and even if you’re not a fan, it’s something you can’t avoid in this big city. Big River Grille has a nice big patio and decent beer brewed on-site. Cross the Pedestrian Bridge and check out LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans. Locals know how to throw an amazing tailgate party, so be sure to check it out on game day.
4) Take a Hike: Beautiful parks surround Nashville; so, be sure to get out of the city for the day and explore the great outdoors. Radnor Lake State Park is just a few miles away. You will find easy (and short) hikes that give you great views of the lake, as well as the wildlife. You’re likely to see a few dozen turtles basking in the sun, and keep your eye out for a large variety of birds that flock in that area. Long Hunter State Park is a little bit further outside of town, but well worth the half-hour drive. Visit Baker’s Grove for an enjoyable 4-mile loop with great views of J. Percy Priest Lake.
5) A Zillion More Things to Explore: If you have the time, there’s not shortage of things to experience in Nashville. If you love country, you’ll be in heaven with the dozens of country music shows and museums. Even if you’re not a fan, you’ll enjoy all the rest that Nashville has to offer. Here’s a few things to check out:
a. Ghost Tours Galore: Specifically, check out the Haunted Hearse Tour (Nashville Ghost Tours) for a unique experience
b. Jack Daniel’s Distillery: It’s a bit of a drive outside of town, but make a day out of it because the town of Lynchburg seems to have a lot to offer
c. Dinner at Monell’s: If you are looking for a true Southern home-cooked dining experience, perhaps you need to visit Monell’s. There’s no menu – you get the dish momma’s cooking up for dinner that evening. You can be sure it’s served with all of the traditional Southern fixins – and it’s all served family style.
d. Cooter’s Place: If you were a fan of Dukes of Hazzard as a kid, then you’ll want to swing by the Cooter’s Place Museum. It’s open 7 days a week – and it’s free.
