In order to make “Jelly”, you need two basic elements:
Jason & Kelly
Jason Michael and Kelly Day have been a team since 2003. They met in Ocean City, MD, and took their friendship to Boulder, CO, where it quickly blossomed into more. This cross-country move was to become indicative of their relationship, one that is strongly focused on travel.
With travel as a central theme, Jason and Kelly have focused their attentions on the things they love most: Dining in restaurants · Listening to music · Going to shows · Trying new brews · Creating new recipes · Reading · Living · … and Writing about it all!
Our Philosophy…
This is the story of how Jason and Kelly came to be known as Jelly, and what it really took for them to eventually “Go Nuts”.
In 2006, we took our first vacation together: a 7-week backpacking trip across Central America. On that trip, something changed deep in both of us. We met other travelers, we visited new terrain, we learned about ourselves, and – most importantly – we barely scratched the surface.
After our trip, we returned to Colorado where we started down our career paths and even purchased our first home. We both had good jobs with growing companies. We were seeing our futures laid out for us. But in the pit of our stomachs, we knew that we weren’t the sort of couple to just settle for “settling down”.
There was constant discussion about that backpacking trip and how much we enjoyed it. We always thought about others we met who were traveling for months or even years. We met some who were taking trips around the world and others who had started a business in a foreign land. We started to contemplate whether we would ever be able to take a vacation like that again now that we were beginning to put roots down in Colorado.
In 2009, we decided that it was “now or never”. Meaning, we could choose to live the life we were dreaming of, or we could choose the path we were headed towards. We could choose between a life of travel and adventure, based on discovery and exploration; or we could choose a life with secure jobs, steady income, and two-week vacations every year.
We chose a life where the world is our oyster. We decided to focus on simplifying our needs and learning to redefine what is really important in our lives, instead of focusing on earning money to pay bills and buy more “stuff.”
And that is how our real story begins. The rest you can read throughout our website: how we opened a restaurant in Honduras and managed a hotel in Ecuador; how we created a wedding that was truly unique and affordable; how we spent 6 weeks on the Oregon Coast; how we managed to drive 9000 miles in 6 months in the USA….how we LEARN, how we LIVE, how we GO NUTS!
